Thanks Dr. King.!

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for everything that he has done to help our country. He was such a powerful man and he made such a great difference in all of our lives. So today make sure you take the time out to simply say "thank you Dr. King," because today is not just another random day taken off from school.

Allow yourself and your children to watch this video, not only so they know how far we have come but also how far we have to go.
Celebrate Dr. King's life and accomplishments with your children today. Educate them by printing out fact sheets, coloring pages, or even watching video clips online.
Then ask them what Dr. King means to them.
 Let's not let them forget.

"I have a dream." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

DIY: T-Shirt Scarves - Dope Accessories.!

So I was surfing the web and I found this cool do-it-yourself project that I wish I could take credit for but its only borrowed.!

Now on to the DIY Scarf Project::
You will need:
1. An old t-shirt
  • I've been told this will not work on 100% cotton shirts...you can take a risk if you like. ( I used a t-shirt that was 60% cotton and 40% polyester.)
  • Also the shirt should not have any seams on the side (it will not stretch out if it does).
  • Larger size shirts seem to work better. ( In case you want to double the scarf around your neck.)
2. Scissors

...Now onto the project...
1. Lay your shirt out on a flat surface.
2. Cut the hem off of the bottom of the shirt. (Put it aside because you will use it later.)
3. Now cut strips off of the shirt vertically that are about 1 to 1&1/2 inches wide all the way up to the armpit of the shirt.
4.Grab 3-4 strips of the shirt in both hands, and gently stretch them out. The strips will naturally curl.
5. Do this to all of the strips. ( Be sure to stretch them all to the same length.)
6. Take the hem that you set aside and use it to tie around all of the strips to keep them in place. ( I tied mines in a bow to make it pretty.)
All done.!
  • Get creative try draping them, combining colors, wrapping one end with access fabric, braiding the strips for a braided scarf, or even adding beads/pins.
Finished look:
This is would make a great Christmas gift and could cost nothing to you..!

I got a lot of compliments the day I wore mines out and about shopping.!

Fashionista on a Budget..!

I know that everyone could afford to cut back on spending, especially now when gas prices are sky high along with everything else.! There are certain areas such as grocery, entertainment, and clothing where we could shop on a budget and no one would be to tell the difference.

Well I've always been able to find the best bargains on anything, especially clothing.! So here are a few ways to stay super cute for super cheap..!

1. Shop on the clearance rack.! -- You can always find cute items on the clearance rack. You just have to be willing to search hard & long, but rust me it pays off in the end.! Also 9 times out of 10 there's an extra percent off of clearance items. So you get the item at a reduced price and then an additional percentage is taken off at the register .

2. Don't be afraid to use coupons.! -- Coupons always come in handy.! I know, i know....i used to think coupons were just for grandmas too! After working in retail for years I've seen coupons cut totals in half! I myself have gotten coupons out of magazines and even gotten items for free. Whether its a shirt, panty, or pair of earrings...free is FREE.! So next time you're are flipping through the sales paper or the cashier hands you a coupon PUT IT TO USE.!

3. Sale your old clothes.! -- Yeah....that's right I said sale your clothes..! There are many places that buy gently used clothes. If you all are anything like me we all have that drawer, closet, or tub of clothes that we've either worn once and pushed it to the back or never even wore at all.! Stop letting these items waste away.! Quickly find a Plato's Closet or google a place near you that buys gently used clothing & get some extra cash quick.!

4. Shop at your local thrift store.! -- When I was younger I never wanted to get too close to a thrift store and now I die to get in them.! You can always shop for unique finds at a thrift store whether you are in search of clothing or jewelry.! Many people are rocking the antique/throwback look and a thrift store is a great place to find the original pieces. Even if you are a crafty person you can always buy a pair of jeans and put your own touch on them, whether its cutting them into shorts, bleaching, or adding jewels to them. (Also, don't be afraid to shop in the men's section ladies.!)

---------------------------------------------------
Here are a few items that I picked up off the clearance rack.

(cute pink sandal paired with a pink top)

(same shoe pictured with a cute peek-a-boo shoulder tribal top)

(here are two simple tees that came from the boys section but would look super cute & comfortable with a pair of dark denim jeans -- a nice relaxed look)

I purchased all of these items plus a pair of pants (not pictured) all for $30 at Rue 21.! & I even got a coupon for my next purchase. =)

So remember ladies there's nothing wrong with shopping on budget. Be smart with your money.
